Lip Filler

  • We do not have a signature lip filler technique at Monica Mekha Aesthetics. Our techniques when approaching Lip Filler treatments are tailored to each individual, their unique anatomy and aesthetic goals. A “signature technique” is like having a cookie cutter approach and treating each individual the same, regardless of their anatomy or aesthetic goals.

  • You can book for either or. During the consultation process we discuss your anatomy and desired goals. Cosmetic Nurse Monica will together with you create a treatment plan and explain  product and quantity recommendations and options. Our goals is always natural looking lips. It is important to note that the lips start to swell as they are being injected, and the result you see immediately is not how they will settle.

  • Yes it will. The swelling is worst during the first 24-48 hour period. By 72 hours some swelling will start to subside. Please allow up to 2 weeks for any residual swelling to subside. Some patients swell significantly whilst others may not have much swelling at all. Cosmetic Nurse Monica will explain the lip filler healing process - Trust, they will settle.

  • Minor lumps and bumps post lip filler are normal. We advise not to massage the lips, but to attend your 2 week complimentary follow up appointment. Cosmetic Nurse Monica will massage your lips and together you will assess your treatment outcome. Dermal Filler can take 2-6 weeks to fully integrate into your tissue.

During the first 2 weeks, your lips may also feel tight, tender and firm, as they start to integrate they will soften.

  • All medical procedures carry a degree of risk. The main side effects and risks associated with Lip Filler are: bleeding, bruising, swelling and small chance of infection. A rare complication is called a “Vascular Occlusion”. This is when dermal filler is inadvertently injected into a blood vessel, and can impair the blood flow to the area of skin/tissue. This is reversible but it needs to be dissolved immediately. If it happens at the time of injection it will be reversed straight away. Cosmetic Nurse Monica will educate you regarding the signs and symptoms to look out for which include excessive pain, white or patchy discolouration at or near the site of injection. You will be provided with an after hour number to contact Cosmetic Nurse Monica should you have any concerns or questions.

Lip Filler Dissolving

  • We aim to make you as comfortable as possible through the use of strong topical anaesthetic, diluting the dissolving agent with lidocaine [local anaesthetic] stress balls, ice, vibration stimulation analgesia. We provide each client with a take home ice pack to aid in recovery.

  • Yes filler dissolving is safe. We prioritise safety over everything. That is why you will be treated by a registered nurses. We also do a spot test on the forearm prior to dissolving to ensure you do not have an allergic reaction to the enzyme used for filler dissolving.

Swelling, bruising, and a tingling sensation are normal. Majority of the swelling will subside within 48 hours. Bruising is to be expected with the treatment. We schedule a 2 week follow up review to ensure you do not need a second dissolving treatment. We also require patients to was 2 weeks before being re-injected with dermal filler, as the enzyme may still be active in the tissue up to that date.

  • If you get regular filler treatment and experience some filler migration, the usual time frame you should consider dissolving is 3-5 years, this is a rough estimate. How much filler and how often will have an impact on this.

All other Dermal Filler

  • Swelling and bruising may results from injections and is variable from individual to individual. Usually it is less significant than the swelling in the lips. You will be provided with a take home ice pack to assist in the management of swelling and bruising.

  • Facial fillers are structured differently than lip filler. They are “thicker” and “firmer”. Due to the nature of the product, these fillers may last up to 24 months. There is evidence based studies suggesting Dermal Filler may last over 2+ years.

  • The amount used and placement will vary and depends on what areas need treating, and what the patient’s own aesthetic goals are. This is something we discuss in detail during a consultation. At Monica Mekha Aesthetics our technique changes depending on the patient, and we adapt to give individuals the result that goes hand in hand with their own goals.

  • A holistic approach is looking at the face as a whole, opposed to facial areas in isolation. Many other treatments can benefit towards positive ageing and work well in combination with cheek filler. We discuss the benefits, risks and side effects and assess suitability for all treatments prior.

Depending on the patient’s goals, there are certain treatments that can compliment each other. When addressing the cheeks, areas such as the pirriform fossa, nasolabial folds and marionette lines - if they are a concern and those areas are deepened. By injecting it into areas that have lost their natural volume due to aging, we are able to smoothen and correct these deep lines to give you a natural look.

The lips and chin and jawline can also be addressed when facial volumising, balancing or harmonisation is a goal.

  • All medical procedures carry a degree of risk. The main side effects and risks associated with Dermal Filler are: bleeding, bruising, swelling and small chance of infection.

A rare complication is called a “Vascular Occlusion”. This is when dermal filler is inadvertently injected into a blood vessel, and can impair the blood flow to the area of skin/tissue. This is reversible but it needs to be dissolved immediately. If it happens at the time of injection we know what to look for and it will be reversed straight away. Cosmetic Nurse Monica will educate you regarding the signs and symptoms to look out for which include excessive pain, white or patchy discolouration at or near the site of injection. You will be provided with an after hour number to contact Cosmetic Nurse Monica should you have any concerns or questions.

Anti Wrinkle

  • Pain is a very subjective experience and each individual has a different pain threshold.

At Monica Mekha Aesthetics we aim to make you as comfortable as possible throughout your procedure. We utilise vibration stimulation analgesia (vibration device) stress balls and ice at your request. The injections themselves are over within a couple of minutes.

  • To determine the cost of your treatment we need to have an in person consultation. This is due to anatomical differences between individuals - muscle size, muscle strength, desired treatment outcome.

We offer complimentary, no obligation consultations. You are always welcome to come in for an accurate tailored treatment plan and price.

  • Anti wrinkle treatment has minimal risks and side effects. Some individuals may experience some small mosquito looking lumps, a headache or bruising. There is a very slight chance of an over correction of certain muscles resulting in the muscle drooping or a “heavy feeling”. This is temporary. We have extensive knowledge on facial muscle anatomy, and carefully analyse your muscle movement and plan your treatment accordingly.

  • Unless requested, our treatment aim is to have you looking natural and allow for animation - but without the dynamic lines.

If it is you first time having treatment with us, we will dose conservatively to allow for tweaks at your 2 week follow up. This allows us to see how your muscles respond to the anti wrinkle medication and to avoid over treating you.

  • There is no single age that applies to all clients. The best time to begin anti wrinkle treatments will depend on your specific goals and circumstances.

For some clients that means starting in the 20s when lines are visible even when the face is at rest (static lines). For clients who are more at risk of developing wrinkles due to genetic factors or lifestyle, that may mean beginning preventative treatment at an earlier age, before lines become deeply ingrained.

  • Generally anti wrinkle treatment will last between 3-4 months. Factors determining longevity include age, metabolism, the area being treated and the dose being administered.

  • We do not recommend treating your forehead in isolation as it may result in an aesthetically displeasing outcome. Injecting the forehead alone results in a higher risk of feeling heavy throughout the brow and eyelid region, it can also result in the frown muscle overcompensating.

For the best treatment outcome we recommend treating the forehead and frown together. Cosmetic Nurse Monica will explain this in depth with graphics during the consultation process.

Medical treatment with Anti Wrinkle

  • Anti wrinkle is injected into the masseter muscle, it is extremely effective for reducing your ability to clench or grind your teeth relieving symptoms.

The cost will vary based on your muscle strength

Due to the higher dosing necessary to treat this, our medical masseter treatment is priced lower per unit price.

  • A condition characterised by excess perspiration or sweating. Anti wrinkle is injected into the underarms to prevent the production of sweat by nerve inhibition [no signal from the nerves = no excessive sweating].

Anti wrinkle injections can provide relief for up to 9 months.

Excellent patient satisfaction, mild discomfort, and as always we use a variety of techniques to make the procedure as comfortable as possible for you.

PRP uses your own natural elements without the addition of any foreign products. We take your blood and spin it in a centrifuge, which enables the separation of the blood cells from your plasma and platelets. This is then re-injected into the the treatment area to stimulate collagen and new skin cells.Due to the higher dosing necessary to treat this, our medical masseter treatment is priced lower per unit price.

  • It is injected into the deep dermis, this treatment boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue.

    • Counter cellular ageing

  • Bio-remodelling can be considered across all age demographics ranging from individuals only noticing the first signs of ageing to clients with mild-moderate ageing.

  • Unlike traditional dermal fillers, which are injected into specific areas of the face to add volume or fill in wrinkles, Bio-remodelling is injected into multiple points in the face to improve skin quality. It slows down ageing and improves the quality of the skin and skin laxity.

  • Results are typically seen 4 - 6 weeks post treatment, however please allow 12 weeks for all fat cells to be cleared for the area and to assess your final result.

Please allow downtime for this procedure 1-2 weeks for swelling to subside.

Swelling is a good indicator that the treatment is working.

No Swelling = no fat removal

More swelling = more fat being removed

  • Fat dissolving injections are considered safe to use when administered by a medical professional. As with all medical procedures, there are side effects and risks.
